The Situation

Bruin Biometrics is establishing a new standard of care in orthopedics. Its Orthosonos monitor uses sound waves to detect early-stage osteoarthritis, opening the door to earlier intervention and better treatment outcomes.

The catch: adoption. Busy doctors don’t have time to relearn how they work, so for Orthosonos to actually get used, the system needed to blend into existing workflows instead of disrupting them.

The Solution

Guided by research, we built a system that requires minimal new skills, equipment, or maintenance to adopt. Along the way, we learned that one of doctors’ biggest daily challenges isn’t diagnosis, it’s communicating results to patients in a way that actually lands.

So we designed for that moment specifically. A large touchscreen and a vivid, clear interface let doctors and patients look at test results together, in the room, in real time, turning a data readout into an actual conversation about care.

An interface built for two people, not one

The touchscreen interface was designed to be read from both sides of the exam table, so doctors and patients could walk through test results together instead of the doctor interpreting a screen the patient can’t see.
